Since 2015, Langetree has had an agreement with the VFW to provide temporary short term housing for homeless veterans . During this time, approximately 50 veterans and family members have had the benefit of the housing services. The demand continues to grow and plans are underway for improvements and expansion.
The Langetree board conducted a study and found that many agencies and faith-based organizations were experiencing a demand for temporary housing for veterans. As a result, and from a request from St. Vincent de Paul and the community, Langetree implemented a plan to provide temporary housing for the homeless veteran population from our area which includes the counties of Chambers, Hardin, Harris, Liberty, Jefferson, Montgomery and Orange. However, we have some veterans from outside of this area.
The first Tiny House was set up in 2015.

There are currently six tiny houses and one bunk house in use.
With a commitment from supporters and partners, we anticipate expanding the site to include an additional 25 tiny houses by 2025.

The Tiny House Project is a partnership between Langetree and several health, education and human services organizations. Over 30 support service organizations and approximately 35 dedicated supporters and volunteers also contribute to the project's success.

Residents have access to a full bathroom, a fully-equipped kitchen and laundry facilities. They also have access to Langetree's community room space, as well as access to gardening, hiking, a fishing pond and a two-mile, seven- circuit Labyrinth.
The 1800 sq. ft faciilty known as "Pop's Pavillion" is being modified and weatherized to bring it to the appropriate level necessary to insure a safe and secure living environment.
Expansion of the bathroom space is underway.
